Kierán clapped his hands for the first time when our plane landed at the Seattle Airport. I was so surprised. He hasn't done it again since, but that first incidence was very dramatic!

Kierán seems to really enjoy music. He seems to especially enjoy being sung to. He can recognize parts of familiar songs. He lights up when I sing a little refrain to him. Especially "Do do dooty do do do do..."

After many weeks of exciting progress, Kierán flipped himself over from front to back last night. I actually think he was trying to crawl, but flipped instead. He has made huge strides in the past few days. The best part, both parents were watching as it happened. High fives ensued.

For the first time this week I noticed that Kierán got upset when his toy disappeared. In this case it was a small beach ball that repeatedly rolled away. He was so focused on it. If it was gone too long he would start to fuss. As soon as it was back in his hands he'd calm down.

This week Kierán has been discovering the wonders of a beach ball.

Dancing

Kierán already enjoyed dancing with his dad, who held him in his arms and bopped around his bedroom to various beats. But now Kierán has started to try "dancing" on his own. Yesterday, while listening to peppy Calypso songs ("Coco got a lotta iron / Make you strong like a lion") I stood him up, holding just his hands, while he laughed and shrieked with happiness. I moved his hands back and forth to the beat and he gave me that enormous gummy smile!

Several people have commented that Kierán seems to be "drinking it all in." At the right moment, when he is "active alert", his eyes are full of wonder and interest. Otherwise he is generally asleep.
